I NEVER KNEW DID YOU?
Rabbits can thump their back feet so it sounds like a drum?
Now I know, and well… do I have a story for you.
One nice day, I decided to visit Princess Water Lily and Chief Thumper in the Hoop House. This day was different than all my other visits. This day was a day that I decided to take another animal friend with me to the Hoop House.
This one fine day, I went to find Chauncey Pig so we could walk to the Hoop House and visit Princess Water Lily and Chief Thumper together.
Chauncey is a sweet, little, chubby pig that loves to walk everyday. He came to live here in a Pig House because he needed a new home. He had visited the Hoop House many times before Princess Water Lily and Chief Thumper came to live there.
I explained to Chauncey that we would go to the Hoop House and visit the two bunnies so he was eager to go anywhere there was something to eat. He had been to the Hoop House last summer where he munched on tomatoes, peppers, and broccoli. He followed me eager and anxious to arrive at the Hoop House to munch once again.
I took a bag of carrots for everyone to snack on knowing that there was no food growing in the Hoop House this time of year.
Princess Water Lily and Chief Thumper loved eating the orange treat everyday and I knew Chauncey would like carrots, too.
Now mind you, Chauncey didn’t know that Princess Water Lily and Chief Thumper were living there and he wasn’t sure what the word “bunnies” meant. He had only lived with other little pigs and some small dogs but never
bunny rabbits.
Princess Water Lily and Chief Thumper knew nothing about pigs or even that they existed anywhere near their Hoop House World.
So, this gathering of the pig and the bunnies was a complete surprise to both just as what would happen next would be a surprise to me.
As always, Chauncey pig, trailed by my side talking “pig latin” to me as he looked for any goody along the way that he could eat. You must already know how much little pigs love to eat.
He still wasn’t prepared for his meeting in the Hoop House with Princess Water Lily and Chief Thumper.
On we sauntered to enter the front doors.
Chauncey eagerly entered first with me close behind. He started down the dirt path to the bunny hutch still not aware that Princess Water Lily and Chief Thumper had already spotted him. All the garden beds in the Hoop House were empty of life and were waiting for spring planting.
I sat down on the edge of the garden bed to watch the first meeting of Princess Water Lily, Chief Thumper and Chauncey Pig.
It was then I heard Princess Water Lily sound the alarm. She used the wood flooring in the bunny hutch as her drum…she made a loud “THUMP” to warn Chief Thumper that a stranger was approaching the hutch.
Princess Water Lily was upstairs and Chief Thumper was taking a nap downstairs. Again, her back leg sounded a thundering “THUMP” that was even louder.
Chauncey, who had been daydreaming as he walked down the path, ducked at the sound of the drumming by Princess Water Lily. Chief Thumper headed upstairs to be with Princess Water Lily. He began thumping, too.
Chauncey then saw the two bunnies as they continued “THUMPING” to ward off the intruder in the Hoop House.
It was then that Chauncey turned on the path and headed back towards me to leave Princess Water Lily and Chief Thumper victorious with their “thumping”.
Startled, Chauncey had definitely had enough of “bunnies” today.
I couldn’t believe how the bunnies drumming on the wooden floor had sent Chauncey running.
Now you know what I know…You know what rabbits do when a stranger comes too close to their hutch.
I began the walk out of the Hoop House with Chauncey in the lead. He wanted to get back to his pig domain away from the drumming bunnies.
Chauncey never looked back at least not today.
Princess Water Lily and Chief Thumper continue to wait for The Dream Catcher to appear.
Will Chauncey return to the Hoop House? Will the Dream Catcher appear soon? What is Princess Water Lily’s Secret?
To be continued…
Stay tuned…talk soon,
